If you’ve been considering adding a battery to your solar setup or investing in energy storage, there’s exciting news for Western Australians. The WA Government is set to launch the WA Residential Battery Scheme, offering generous rebates and interest-free loans to help households like yours make the switch to smarter, more sustainable energy.

What Is the WA Residential Battery Scheme?
Starting on or before 1 July 2025, the WA Government will roll out the Residential Battery Scheme in several rounds. The initiative aims to support 20,000 households by providing:
On top of the federal offer, WA residents can now access additional state support depending on your energy provider:
Synergy customers: Up to $1,300 ($130 per kWh, up to 10 kWh)
Horizon Power customers: Up to $3,800 ($380 per kWh, up to 10 kWh)
Combined, that’s a potential rebate of up to $5,000 (Synergy) or $7,500 (Horizon Power) towards your battery system.
Please note that applications for rebates and loans under the WA Battery Scheme are not open yet. No battery suppliers or installers have been selected for involvement in the scheme, and a list of approved equipment is still to be confirmed. Batteries installed before the commencement of the WA Battery Scheme will not be eligible for rebate or loan funding
